Frequently asked questions

Learning Support

ANSWER

ICON Arts Academy can accommodate a variety of individual learning needs on a case-by-base basis. During the application process we ask you to provide us with any pertinent information concerning your student’s unique learning needs. This includes anything related to cognitive, physical, or emotional processes that have impacted their prior school experience or could impact their learning experience as a student at ICON. We ask for any helpful documentation, such as (but not limited to):
504 plan
IEP
diagnostic exam results
diagnosis from a physician or learning specialist of an emotional/psychological disorder or learning disability
psychometric test results conducted to inform your student’s learning profile
Prior school records from a guidance counselor or other helping professional

With this information, we can then determine the pathway forward for your student and if we can appropriately accommodate your student at ICON Arts Academy. Because our students receive their core academics through the ICCSD OLP, students with entitled services (such as IEPs and 504 plans) are reviewed and updated to make sure they are receiving the services they need in the online learning environment. This includes providing virtual paraprofessional support as deemed necessary during the online portion of an ICON student’s education. However, at this time, we are not able to provide this kind of one-on-one paraprofessional support for ICON students in-person during live arts instruction.
